ADOPTION POLICIES & PUPPY APPLICATION

PRICE

Our pups are $3000 + HST (price subject to change).

 

WAIT LIST

We keep a short wait list for the current breeding season.  When a litter has been bred it will be announced on our Facebook and Instagram pages (links can be found at the bottom of this page) and the Puppy Application form will be made available.

PUPPY SELECTION & DEPOSIT

Puppy selection is based on when your deposit is received.  You will be asked to fill out a puppy application and, if approved, we require a non-refundable (but transferrable) $250 deposit to hold your selection spot on the waitlist.  This deposit goes towards the final purchase price.  Puppy selection visits happen at 4 weeks of age, and go in order of deposits received.  Once you have selected your puppy we require half the purchase price to be paid by cash or e-transfer.  Puppies will go home the weekend after they turn 8 weeks old, and the balance is due upon pickup.

HOLDS

We will sometimes hold a reserved puppy past their 8 week rehoming date, for a boarding fee of $25/dog/day.

HEALTH GUARANTEE

All our parent dogs are tested for over 190 genetic diseases found in canines, especially those diseases commonly found in Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles.  We desire to breed healthy dogs with resilience and longevity.  If any of our puppies develop hereditary diseases throughout their lifespan we want to be informed directly, as this impacts our future breeding practices.

Smoky Ridge puppies come with a two year health guarantee against the following diseases that are relevant to the Bernedoodle breed:

  • von Willebrand Disease, Type 1

  • Degenerative Myelopathy, DM

  • Progressive Retinal Atrophy, prcd

  • GM2 Gangliosidosis

  • Neonatal Encephalopathy with Seizures

  • Osteochondrodysplasia

  • Intervertebral Disc Disease, Type 1

If your dog is diagnosed with any of the above diseases in the first two years of their life we will gladly welcome him/her back into our home, and provide you with a new puppy.  Or, if you agree to continue to care for the affected dog, you may keep him/her and we will still provide you with a new puppy OR refund you the purchase price of the affected dog.  

***Proper veterinary documentation from your vet, and confirmation of diagnosis from our vet, will be required to qualify for this guarantee***

REFUNDS & RETURNS

All Smoky Ridge puppies are assessed by a veterinarian and sold in good health.  They each receive age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming prior to leaving our home.  Upon receipt of your puppy, it is your responsibility to have the pup assessed by your veterinarian within 72 hours to confirm their good health.  If the puppy is found to be in poor health you must provide a letter from the assessing veterinarian and must return the puppy for a refund of the full purchase price only.

If, during the dog's lifespan, you find yourself unable to keep or properly care for your puppy/dog we will gladly take him/her back until we are able to find a new home.  No refund will be issued in this case.

BREEDING RIGHTS

Puppies are sold on a non-breeding contract.  This may be negotiable if the buyer meets certain criteria.
